~ Breaking Free ~

When we cease to be ourselves it is because at some point in our lives unsuitable controls have been placed on our outward behaviour. However, in our thoughts we can free ourselves from this bonding. By recognising in our mind that we are 'Free' and we can break the ties and rejoice in the Freedom of Spirit.

If another person chooses to break free and you are the one left behind, try not to judge this person as being wrong - in setting themselves free they are moving forward on their own spiritual journey. To see them as self destructing or harming themselves or others, is to judge them by your own limited thoughts and behaviours. We can never know what lies deep inside the heart of another person for they are their own Masters of their own Destiny.

According to the sixteenth Century French philosopher Michel de Montaigne, each one of us carries the full burden of the human condition. All that we see in others - both the darkness and the light - is also present in ourselves.

Every soul should carefully observe which way their heart is drawn to, and then choose that way with all their strength if felt guided so to do.

None of us has control over another's destiny, nor should we try. If we create something for ourselves, we should not assume that the next person is comfortable in being a part of that creation. What seems perfect and right to one soul, may hold back another. We are all Masters of our own Destiny and so to assume responsibility as Master or leader in anything, reveals the hidden depths of deep learning necessary within.

To build real companionship with others we must first make friends and learn to like ourselves. Close your eyes and meditate on this, imagine meeting yourself for the first time, engaging yourself in conversation, sharing your fears and concerns; your hopes and your dreams; show compassion to yourself. Finish with a gesture of appreciation and promise to meet again soon. Did you like the experience?

Payment for Healing

China Lotus flower candle holder There has always been much debate over whether or not a person should be charged for healing. Can a person charge for something that is not theirs to give?

My own view is this: That which is given by a healer, is not owned by the healer, the healer is merely a channel for the healing to take place. The knowledge which the healer has acquired will have been passed from one healer to another or from one Reiki Master to another.

The knowledge which they will have acquired, may come at some cost on a personal level. This is by choice, and there is no judgement upon those who have gained it, through whatever means or choices that have come to them.

That knowledge should be imparted honourably in the divine presence, without judgement and with love.

Master Usui went on to give healing for free for seven years after developing the technique now known as reiki. It was not long before he discovered that some of his healee's were coming to him to be healed over and over again. He realised that these people were able to come as often as they wished, but were not valuing the healing which they were receiving. It is said that he was guided by his own inner wisdom that there needed to be some sort of exchange to take place for what was being given, so that it may be valued. He found that once there was a charge for his healing technique, people then placed value on it. This may not necessarily have been to his satisfaction, but he knew that it was a necessary exchange to show and teach respect and inner healing!

It should be recognised on a physical level however, that in this material world, materials such as books, manuals, electricity, heating, time and most of all, preparation, are expensive and have a cost.
